Tattoos: can you do Laser Hair Removal over Tattoos?
If you're thinking about getting a tattoo in a prominent area such as your legs, arms or chest there is one medi-aesthetic treatment that you MUST have before you jump onto the tattoo artist's table...laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal is attracted to the pigment within your hair follicle, deep in the layers of the skin. When laser hair removal is performed over a tattoo, the laser cannot distinguish between the pigment in your hair follicle or the pigment in the ink - and can cause the pigment of your tattoo to scatter. In some instances, it can also reduce the color in the tattoo.
Laser hair removal machines aren't designed to remove tattoos and worse than distorting your tattoo, it can potentially lead to burns, blisters or skin damage.
The best course of action is to plan ahead and receive a full course of laser hair removal in the area where you plan on placing your tattoo. Not only is this the safest and most convenient option, but your tattoo will look even better on a smooth canvas!
Lifestyle Acne Tips
Keep it cool: No hot yoga when dealing with acne. Yoga is great for keeping the mind and body de-stressed, which in turn controls hormonal activity. Hot yoga involves excessive heat and sweating which can cause more breakouts and irritates an already unbalanced skin.
Watch the sugars: Simple sugars in particular are highly inflammatory. Candy, sodas, ice cream, alcohol and white foods are the main culprits. Dairy foods can also exacerbate acne as well as iodides in supplements.
- Clean tools: We recommend that our male clients sterilize their razors after each use and that our female clients clean their makeup brushes every week.
- Good habits: Make sure you are removing all makeup at the end of the day with several cleansing steps and plenty of toning. Above all, do not pick.
- Clean surfaces: Changing pillow cases at least twice a week helps minimize the effects of indoor pollution. Wipe smartphones, glasses, steering wheels, and when traveling, plane seats and food trays with an antiseptic wipe to cut down on bacteria exposure.
- Hydration: Be sure to hydrate inside and out. Plenty of water keeps the system flushed and healthy.
